Our coaches help these kids find their true self

James Hoy
Head Coach
“ From hoops to hooks “ After a thirty year career as a high school basketball coach and camp director , coach was introduced to boxing by Jimmy Cvetic, a former police officer who committed his life to developing programs such as the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League . The WPPAL is an organization that continues to build solid relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. “Jimmy Cvetic knew I could do this before I did … I assured Jimmy I knew nothing about boxing …and I’ll never forget when he said: ‘Good ! This doesn’t have anything to do with boxing it’s about kids … you’ll figure the rest out!’” Nearing his 400th fight, Coach said “Jimmy was right, boxing is the least of what we do , it about consistency, mentoring, compassion and standards. Cvetic wasn’t well when we met and he passed within the year. Attending his funeral was a very powerful event in my life. I couldn’t believe how many people were there and how many lives he touched. Every time I meet one of his former boxers, without fail each and everyone says … Jimmy would be so proud of you guys! It reminds me of my responsibility to his legacy and to our city …. It’s a good life , Go Crusaders!”

Aaron Allen
Assistant Coach
Born and raised in Greensburg, PA, Aaron Allen earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Chowan University. His dedication to teaching compelled him to form what is known as Elite Tactical Firearms Training LLC. Through this venture, he teaches civilians, security teams, and law enforcement the proper use of firearms with a focus on firearm safety. Joining the Team 412 Coaching Staff occurred one day while he was in the city and saw a group of young kids running together. His curiosity led him to stop them and ask who they were. “We are the 412 Boxing Team. We run in the city a lot, always training for the next competition,” they responded. Of course, Aaron's response was, “Does the organization need additional help? I’d be happy to volunteer my free time.” Thus began his training to become a Team 412 Coach. Coach Aaron’s career is a model of service recognized by various awards, including an NAACP Award. “I am glad that my curiosity led me to ask the runners who they were. For me, there is nothing quite as uplifting as having this opportunity to teach and inspire these kids! This non-profit is making a difference, and that is what I am all about.”
